Sergeant Rafael Peralta was killed in action on November 15th, 2004 when he was clearing houses in Al Fallujah, Iraq. During the fight, Sergeant Peralta and his squad came under fire at close range, where he was struck in the head. As the insurgents fled the room, they threw a fragmentation grenade at the squad. Sergeant Peralta, lying on the floor, was able to reach the grenade and pull it underneath him in order to save the rest of his squad. Sergeant Peralta died shortly after that, but his display of courage and sacrifice provides an example that will live on with his memory. Sergeant Rafael Peralta has been nominated for the Medal of Honor for his Sergeant Rafael Peralta heroic actions in combat.

2007 Event
From the $260,000 raised in 2007, we were able to provide individual grants of $5,000 each to 52 wounded Marines. They all suffered life threatening injuries while in Iraq or Afghanistan, and many of them received recognition for their bravery in combat. Through their heroic actions, they have served our country and protected our freedom. The Good Guys were fortunate enough to give them something in return for their service, and there are many more Marines who deserve the same.
