More than 8,000 U.S. Marines have been wounded in the Global War on Terrorism. While the injuries alone are often traumatic, the financial hardship for the both the soldier and his or her family can be extraordinary. Hospital stays and rehabilitation can often be long are arduous. Often, one or more family members must take a leave of absence without pay from their job, and economic relief from the U.S. government often falls far short of the financial needs of the wounded soldier.
In an effort to alleviate some financial hardship, The Good Guys of Morgan Run raise funds to provide financial support directly to worthy U.S. Marines wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan in recognition of their sacrifice and duty to our Country. U.S. Marine Corps Commanding Officers nominate candidates for grants. Each candidate's biography is reviewed by the Good Guys Board for confirmation.
100% of the money donated to The Good Guys of Morgan Run is distributed to wounded Marines in the form of individual grants of $5,000 each, 24/7 emergency funds, and gasoline cards. All expenses of the organization are underwritten and paid for by members of the The Good Guys.
